A Message from the President

"Welcome to the Student Chapter of the Association for Information Systems at the University of Illinois! I hope you find the necessary information you need on this website and join our Student Chapter this semester."

My name is Sushmetha Venkata Subramanian and I am a Finance and Statistics major with a minor in Computational Science and Engineering as well as Econometrics. I joined AIS as a first-semester freshman and I did not know that it would unravel to play such a big role in my life. Before being President, I served as the Vice President of Finance during the Fall Semester of 2018. AIS has helped me in networking with other individuals, meeting people outside of my college, and gaining a better background on multiple technical skills. Besides myself, there are multiple others helping me run this organization as well. These highly qualified individuals can be found on the Executive Board page.

The reason I joined AIS was to learn more about the intersection between Business and Technology, as my majors encompass. Still standing true today, our members can learn about this intersection and grow as more competitive candidates in the job market through:

  • Professional Development

    • Resume critiques, mock interviews, career track coaching

  • Technology Lessons

    • A variety of technologies are taught throughout the year to prepare members for a successful career

  • Corporate Engagement

    • Employer presentations, networking events, workshops

Our alumni have gained a lot experiences in AIS and have used it to develop as business professionals, technologists, and leaders. Through the opportunities in AIS, they used it to start successful careers at companies such as AB InBev, Deloitte, EY, Google, Grainger, Kellogg’s, KPMG, PwC, Textron, and Uber, and more.

If you are interested in joining us, please come out to our meetings. They are usually held at Wohlers Hall 166 from 6-7pm. You can learn more about us on the About Us page as well. Email us to let us know you’re interested and we can give you a response with the upcoming schedule. If you are an employed interested in partnering or sponsoring with AIS, please refer to our Sponsorship page or email us. An Executive Member will respond to you shortly.

With the new semester starting off, we are excited to showcase what we have planned for both our old and new members. Students are welcome to join whenever throughout the semester.
